Privacy

Jinny Street Gallery’s website (www.jinnystreetgallery.com) uses Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it and the exhibitions. We don’t use Google Analytics for advertising. The site also uses the Meta pixel, for our ads on Facebook and Instagram (see below).

What is sent to Google

  • The pages you view (their address and title) and the site that sent you. If you opened the site from the QR code on one of our streetlamps, the address says which streetlamp’s code it was.
  • What you do on the site, such as the lamps and photos you open, the videos you play, how far you scroll, and the links you follow to our store, newsletter, Instagram or email.
  • Your browser, device, screen and language.
  • Your approximate location (the city), which Google works out from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
  • A random identifier, kept in two first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_FXT638J4W5) so that visits from the same browser can be counted together. They expire after two years at most.

We only ever see these figures in aggregate. Google keeps the event data for 14 months. How Google itself uses it is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in Google’s privacy policy.

Meta (Facebook and Instagram)

The site also uses the Meta pixel, a service of Meta Platforms, Inc., for advertising: to measure how our ads on Facebook and Instagram work, and to show our ads to people who have visited the site. It sends Meta:

  • The pages you view (their address, which names the streetlamp if you scanned its QR code) and the site that sent you.
  • Some of what you do on the site: the exhibitions you view, the lamps you open, and the links you follow to our store, newsletter, Instagram or email.
  • Your browser, device and screen.
  • Your IP address.
  • A random identifier, kept in a first-party cookie (_fbp) for 90 days, so that visits from the same browser can be connected.
  • When you arrive from one of our ads, the ad’s click identifier (fbclid in the link), kept in the _fbc cookie for 90 days.

If you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram in the same browser, Meta can connect this to your account. How Meta uses it is described in Meta’s privacy policy. We never send Meta your name, email address or phone number, and we only see the results in aggregate.

Opting out

The site works fully without Google Analytics and the Meta pixel. Block cookies or scripts for this site in your browser to stop both. For Google Analytics, you can also install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. For Meta, you can disconnect what sites like this one have sent, and turn it off from now on, under “Activity from other businesses” in Your information and permissions, and choose which ads you see in your ad preferences.
