“Hello, Jinny!” is a small story about a little girl exploring Jingumae Nichome while looking for someone called Jinny.

As she walks through the neighborhood, she begins to notice its streets, little corners, animals and people, each with somewhere to go and somewhere to belong.

In the end, she realizes that Jinny was never one person to find, but all these little lives and places together. I combined my own photographs of the neighborhood with hand-drawn characters to let the real Jinny and my imaginary one meet on the page.

「Hello, Jinny!」は、ジニーという誰かを探しながら、神宮前二丁目を歩く小さな女の子のお話です。

街を歩くうちに、彼女は少しずつ、そこにある道や小さな路地、動物や人々に目を向けるようになります。そこにいるものたちは、それぞれに向かう場所があり、帰っていく場所がある。

そして最後に彼女が気づくのは、探していたジニーは、どこかにいるひとりの誰かではなかったということ。街に暮らす小さな命や、人々、場所、そのひとつひとつが重なり合って、ひとつの「ジニー」になっていたのです。

この作品では、私自身が撮影した神宮前二丁目の写真に、手描きのキャラクターを重ねました。現実のジニーと、私の想像の中のジニーが、紙の上で出会えるように。
