Where Art Meets Bath: “Yu-asobi”

New Exhibition in Collaboration with Kosugiyu Harajuku Opens June 20

From Friday, June 20, 2025, Jinny Street Gallery launches Yu-asobi—an open-air group exhibition that explores the meaning and sensuality of hot water through contemporary art. This special edition is produced in collaboration with Kosugiyu Harajuku, the beloved public bathhouse located within Tokyu Plaza Harajuku, “Harakado.”

In the spirit of the sento—a space that welcomes all—the exhibition brings together 33 artists from Japan and abroad to reflect on bathing as ritual, comfort, and play.

  • Exhibition lasts from June 20 to July 18, 2025, at Jinny Street Gallery,
  • Opening Night Saturday, June 21 at 18:30, at NININI·NI, Jingumae 2-chome.
  • “Jinny Street Gallery Lemon Sour Bath,” from June 20–22 at Kosugiyu Harajuku (keep reading for more details!)

About the Exhibition

Displayed within our signature streetlamp lightboxes of Jinny Street Gallery will be the works, ranging from photography to sculpture, offering deeply personal, often playful interpretations of the theme. Some artists were selected via an open call to Kosugiyu bathers, strengthening the link between the community and creative expression.

Kosugiyu is located just a 5-minute walk from the gallery, encouraging visitors to flow between art and bath, between refreshing pools and the street.

Special Label Lemon Sour

Our Jinny Lemon Sour will be available during the exhibition, featuring a limited-edition label specially designed for Yu-asobi. Created in collaboration with Open Book, a lemon sour specialty bar in Shinjuku, this special label adds a collectible twist to your post-bath refreshment.
