Where Are The Cats?

KITTYZILLA Solo Exhibition Opens August 15

From Friday, August 15, 2025, Jinny Street Gallery presents Where Are The Cats?—an illustration exhibition by KITTYZILLA (Naomi Oren) that traces the past, present, and possible futures of Jingumae 2-chome’s shopping streets through the eyes of her signature cat characters.

Based on real stories from interviews with local residents, the works weave together memories, disappearing storefronts, and the subtle rhythms of daily life in a neighborhood balancing between preservation and change.

  • Exhibition runs from August 15 to September 15, 2025, at Jinny Street Gallery, Jingumae 2-chome.
  • Opening Night and Artists Walk will be on Saturday, August 15 at 19:30, at NININI·NI.
  • Special Limited-Edition Jinny Lemon Sour label by KITTYZILLA, available at select shops.

Displayed within the gallery’s signature streetlamp lightboxes, KITTYZILLA’s paintings reimagine the streets of Jingumae 2-chome as seen from a cat’s perspective—slipping between alleyways, pausing by a tobacconist’s sign, or watching a familiar shop fade into memory.

These are not works of nostalgia alone, but quiet prompts to consider the future of a place: how residents, shopkeepers, and visitors might together shape the next chapter of this corner of Tokyo.

Special Label Lemon Sour

For the duration of the exhibition, Jinny Lemon Sour will feature a limited-edition label designed by KITTYZILLA—her cats and the streets they roam wrapped around each can.

This special edition, smuggles by our cats straight from the Lemon Bank will be available at select local restaurants, and on opening night at NININI·NI. A toast to the neighborhood, in both image and taste.

About KITTYZILLA

Born in Los Angeles and based in Tokyo, Naomi Oren began depicting the city through feline eyes after meeting “Kuro,” a black cat in Asakusa. Her work captures subtle urban changes and everyday humor through her original cat characters, often set against the backdrop of Tokyo’s disappearing storefronts.

Jinny Street Gallery continues to connect people and the city through art—this time, at the pace of a wandering cat.

As always, see you around the hood,

— Toto & Lorenzo
