Friends of Jinny
Drawing Stories from our neighborhood
Many of the members involved in Jinny Street Gallery have gathered in this neighborhood from various parts of the world, as if guided here. For them, Jingumae 2-chome has become “a second home in Japan”—a neighborhood near Harajuku known for its calm yet lively atmosphere, and for its distinctive shopping street that brings people together. Friends of Jinny was born from this shared sense of belonging.
A total of 40 international illustrators from around the world were selected through an online open call and paired with 40 members of the local community. Like pen pals, they exchange stories and share insights into their lives and everyday experiences. Communication is primarily in Japanese, with illustrators using translation tools to connect with their assigned Jinny members. Inspired by these conversations, the artists create illustrations in their own unique styles and perspectives.
Each artwork becomes a small, portrait-like story, shaped by the overlapping narratives and emotions of a local resident and an artist living far away. Displayed throughout the streets, these works merge with the scenery of Jingumae 2-chome, offering a fresh way of experiencing the neighborhood’s stories.
Michibiki vol.3 : 人から人へ
つづいていくもの
TomoとTinyが新たな冒険へと旅立ち、NININIハウスを去ったあと、その存在の大きさをあらためて感じました。家族の一部が次のステージへ進み、それと同時に、Jinny Street Galleryの大切な一章もまた、静かに次へと引き継がれていきました。あの場所には、数えきれない思い出や創作、そして人と人とのつながりが、今も息づいています。
彼らの旅立ちの後、2025年に解体予定だった家は、期限延長というかたちで新たな時間を与えられました。その「間」に現れたのが、LanaとKaikiという新しい担い手です。終わりではなく、続けていくことを選び、NININI-NIという新たなかたちが、彼らの手によって生まれました。
この場所を大切に思い、その空気や時間を守りながら、これからもクリエイターたちの居場所として開き続けようとする姿勢は、私たちの心を強く打ちました。空間は、そこに集う人々の想いや行為によって、生き続けていくのだと、あらためて感じさせてくれます。
「導き」を意味する Michibiki は、人や場所、時間を静かにつないでいく、目には見えない力を表します。MICHIBIKI vol.3 は、その流れのなかにある「つづいていくもの」に目を向ける展示です。かたちを変えながら受け継がれていく、記憶や関係、そしてコミュニティの物語を。

The opening event for Michibiki Vol. 3 will take place on January 25th, 2026, at NININI-NI from 18:00.
オープニングナイト
「Michibiki Vol.3」のオープニングイベントは、2026年1月25日18:00からJinny Street Galleryに隣接するアートスペース＆バー「NININI-NI」（東京都渋谷区神宮前2丁目3-23）で開催されます。
