I’m very inspired by the journey of the cicada– the first sound I heard when I arrived at the neighbourhood. Through these pages I explore my fascination with the shapes and colours of the Jingumae 2-chome neighbourhood, in the power lines, the way the buildings are nestled. Every drawing contains a cicada which carries the next page forward, and in their passage mark my own.

私がこの街に到着して最初に耳にした音、それは蝉の声でした。

その蝉の姿と旅に強く惹かれ、私はこの作品を描き始めました。

ページをめくるたびに、神宮前二丁目の街に広がる形や色、電線の連なり、建物同士が寄り添うように佇む姿を見つめています。一枚一枚の絵には蝉が描かれています。蝉は次のページへと私たちを導きながら、この街を通り抜けていきます。その姿を追いながら、私自身もまたこの街を歩き、眺め、そこに自分の足跡を残していきます。
